Freedom From Smoking®
American Lung Association (ALA)
Freedom From Smoking® is a seven-week clinic that takes individuals through the process of quitting smoking one step at a time. It offers a supportive environment and a proven method for quitting, based on the premise that smoking is a learned activity. A certified facilitator helps participants understand why and when they smoke so they can learn to fight the addiction and quit for good. Freedom From Smoking® addresses key issues associated with the quit process, including managing stress, nicotine withdrawal, weight control, and long-term strategies to stay tobacco-free. The program is also available online through interactive modules.
Great American Smokeout Toolkit
American Cancer Society (ACS)
Every year, on the third Thursday of November, smokers across the nation take part in the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout event by quitting or making a plan to quit tobacco for good. Workplaces can support employees and coworkers in taking the first step toward a healthier life using this free toolkit. The resource includes content for mail, email, social media, public relations, or print communications, as well ideas to get employees and leadership engaged in the event.
Quit for Life Program
American Cancer Society (ACS)
The American Cancer Society’s Quit for Life Program is a best-in- class telephone-based coaching and web-based learning support service facilitated by the American Cancer Society and Optum. Participants are matched with a Quit Coach who helps them develop a personalized quit plan, provides decision support for medications, and delivers ongoing follow-up. This industry-leading program has helped more than 2 million tobacco users make a plan to quit for good.
Freshstart® Program
American Cancer Society (ACS)
The American Cancer Society’s Freshstart® Program is designed to help employees plan a successful quit attempt by providing essential information, skills for coping with cravings, and group support. To implement the support program, a company representative must first complete Freshstart® facilitator training. Following the completion of the training, the company can access the program materials and begin offering employees the most up-to- date guidelines on how to overcome their nicotine dependence. The information, activities, and discussions will help employees discover why they smoke and what motivates them to quit.
